Middle School Counseling
Career Education- Each student takes part in a wide variety of career awareness activities and developmental classroom sessions. A regular schedule of classroom visitations devoted to these career activities is in effect for grades 6-12. The high school counselor also assists career and college planning for after high school.
Academic Counseling- This is provided on a regular basis. Students receive counseling regarding course selection, scheduling, academic planning, and study skills. In the high school, deficiency notices are issued every 5 weeks and report cards every quarter.
Personal Counseling- This service is available to all students at all times. Students can walk in or make an appointment. Students can be referred by parents, teachers, or can request counseling on their own. Referrals to appropriate agencies are made as deemed necessary.
Substance Abuse Prevention Education and Counseling- Janine Kemp, a substance abuse prevention counselor provides classroom education for 6th graders as well as one-on-one counseling to a small number of students in grades 6-12.
Working Papers- All students between the ages of 14-17 must obtain working papers before beginning employment. These forms can be found in guidance or the main office.
